Blue Sky SB3000i Solar Boost 3000i MPPT Charge Controller charges your RV or any other 12V batteries at up to 30 amps from conventional 36 cell 12V PV modules. The MPPT technology operates the modules electrically in a manner that harvests all available PV power and can increase charge current up to 30% or more compared to conventional PWM type controllers.

The voltage step-down operation of the MPPT power converter also allows use of higher voltage lower cost 60 cell grid-tie PV modules at up to 22 amps of output current. The process of converting the much higher 60 cell input voltage down to battery voltage may produce a charge current increase approaching 200%.

The sophisticated Blue Sky SB3000i 3-stage charge control plus auto/manual equalization optimally charges flooded, GEL, AGM lead-acid chemistry or Lithium batteries . A user configurable auxiliary output is also provided which can serve as either a 20 amp LVD load controller, 20 amp lighting controller with LVD, or 2 amp auxiliary battery charger for a second battery such as the engine start battery in an RV.

The low power LED display combines excellent readability with very low power consumption, includes an automatic night time diming feature and may be turned off completely if desired. The high accuracy display shows battery voltage, input & output current, auxiliary battery voltage, and computes total solar charge amp-hours produced. To provide optimal charge control for various battery types all digital setpoints for charge control and load control are user adjustable.

Solar Boost 3000i may also operate as an IPN Network Master controlling up to 7 remote Blue Sky Energy IPN compatible charge controllers such as the SB3024iL. Blue Sky Energy’s IPN Network allows multiple charge controllers to communicate with each other and coordinate their activities to charge the battery as a single coordinated charging machine. All networked controllers display through the SB3000i’s digital display and may share a battery temperature sensor, IPN-ProRemote display for high accuracy battery system monitoring, or Universal Communication Module (UCM) for remote access over the Internet.

Put this in my micro trailer, I picked it because of the flush mounting with the wire connections in the back behind the mounting wall. I didn’t want wires hanging down in the front that could be accidentally pulled out, this is a top-notch MPPT charge controller! Very well-built and easy to set for your battery type. Very happy with my purchase.

I wrote a negative review a few days ago that it had failed after a few weeks. Turns out the problem was somewhere else in my system, and this controller works fine. So I am replacing that negative review with this one. It is notable that they never responded to my complaint, which most companies would be expected to do. But I can’t fault the product.

I finally had a chance to use this controller for the first time last week. I mounted this inside of my travel trailer and I have it connected to two 100w solar panels. My past controller was a PWM controller that was okay but what a difference this MPPT controller made. I was able to keep my 12v AGM battery almost fully charged all week while camping. It was great to be able to see how the solar panels were doing and how well my battery was doing. It gave me the freedom to use power as needed in my trailer without worrying about draining my battery.

Added this unit as an upgrade to the one that came on my travel trailer when I added 400 Watts of panels. It is well-made and the direction were clear !

I’m replacing an old controller which failed with this Blue Sky. This is the second Blue Sky controller I’ve installed. I’ve always been happy with Blue Sky products. The MPPT technology it uses give up to 30% more power from your panels, depending on the panels’ temperature.

  6. Genesis J McGurk

It is the second one I’m buying, the first one got burned because of corrosion on the lines that come from the solar panels, they got loose and produced a hot spot that burned the connectors. Love this Blue Sky MPPT Charge Controller, it’s been working great !

Hello if your in a highly corrosive area I would suggest using a Dielectric grease on your connections to combat the corrosion issue you have had in the past
      Hope this info helps you

Wonderful and affordable MPPT charge controller. Had zero issues with it. Charging my batteries as it should !

  8. Kevin J Mead

I’ve only had this running for two weeks and spend a lot of time looking at the display. I can set the absorption and float voltages and the absorption time and also have the temperature probe as the controller and batteries are inside the vehicle. I can now spoil my batteries. The only negative is the positive-there are so many settings and it’s difficult to figure out what you actually want/need.

    Kevin J Mead

  9. Darrell A Weiss

Really impressed with this charge controller. I have used similar charge controllers in the past. Also am I using a controller on another system with the MT5 remote meter. This remote meter shows so much more and allows you to control more features. The manuals for the controller and remote meter are much better than expected. The words flow in American English and makes sense, real nice surprise !

  10. Erik J Kistler

Works great, a million times better than the PWM controller. Haven’t used the advanced functions yet, but it works spectacularly well so far.

  11. Jack D Frame

Seems nice, it’s keeping my battery bank happy! The instruction manual is ok, they need to specify a few things, like this must be mounted vertical as opposed to just stating the clearances from heat sink. Also the degrees are in Celsius and it’s not switchable on the meter, although on the controller they are switchable. Other then those two things I have no complaints !

  12. Christopher M Borkowski

The monitor is really nice! It is a must for the controller. For the money this will do everything the name brand controllers do. I upgraded from a PWM controller and am very pleased, I can tell the slight difference in that the bank is charged about an hour earlier than my old PWM controller. Plus the remote gives me way more information to stare at! In order to get the full benefit of this controller the temperature probe is required.

  13. Whitney R Almond

Great controller ! Much more efficient than the stock cheap brand that came with the panels. I use on an RV so the remote is a must, I located it in the controls cabinet in the coach, simple cat5 data cable. Replaced stock unit and DC amp output went up about 25% over stock. I’m at 26 amps now, going to add a few more panels. Highly recommend!

  14. Kristen S Hill

Works very well. I wish I had gone for the 40 amp now! Good thing is they can be paralleled so there’s room to grow in the future. At 12v max ~260W per the specs, I have it connected to 300w of panels, and they are peeking at 205w of power input.

  15. Janice C Moore

Like it a lot. Meter is very helpful for knowing exactly what’s coming in, real time and ‘for the day’ totals. Came on time, installed easy and had everything I needed down to the screw. Nice job.

  16. Pearl W Edwards

This is the second similar unit that I have purchased on “globalsolarsupply”. I installed a 40 amp model two months which is connected to four 100 W panels on our boat. This 20 amp is connected to two panels. They work great.

This unit has large wire lugs that hold wire very well, also it is very easy to install and use. The remote cable could be slightly longer it is only 6 ft (1.83 m) long. It has phone lick connectors on each end of the cable so it is easy to install and could be changed easily !

  18. Wayne P Soto

I bought this solar panel controller to install in my RV, after I installed a 320 watt, 40-VDC panel and it works perfectly to charge my dual 12 Volt AGM batteries. Seller is excellent to work with and answered all of my questions and provided technical help as well !

    Wayne P Soto

  19. Carl S Long

Upgraded my low end controller that came with my panels. Nice to be able to be inside my RV and see how my batteries and panels are doing. Easy to install and setup !
