The system consists of only two major components, minimizing preparation work and installation time. The Ballast Bay frame #310710 is made of a mill finish Aluminum providing a high strength and low weight support structure for the PV modules. The Ballast Bays are created to nest within each other, optimizing shipping logistics and storage. The Ballast Bay is designed to accommodate standard size cap blocks (2″x8″x16″ or 4″x8″x16″) and fits most framed PV modules mounting them at a 10 degree tilt. Each Ballast Bay is compact and weighs less than 3.5 LBS making them very easy to handle.
The included universal Module Clip #310750 is made of a mill finish Aluminum that provides a high strength and low weight connection between the Ballast Bays and the PV modules. The clip uses a 3/8” stainless steel bolt that secures the module to the Ballast Bay by attaching to any framed module that has the return flange underneath the panel. One size fits all. The Module Clip attachment has been designed to provide a bonding path from the PV module to the Ballast Bay therefore it electrically bonds all interconnected modules.
The Included Roof Pad #310760 can provide a protective interface between the Ballast Bay and roofing material to reduce any possible damage that could occur. It also helps distribute the load to the roof to minimize. The Roof Pad snaps into the holes on the bottom side of the Ballast Bay, two Roof Pads per bay. Please consult the roofing manufacturer to see whether it is required as well as to verify compatibility.
